Psyche Electro-Acoustic Opera Company – Myths & Spirits
The Psyche Electro-Acoustic Opera Company, LLC was founded by Liza Seigido and her husband, Lawrence W. Moore. Both Moore and Seigido are composers of electro-acoustic music and are interactive multimedia artists. The first performance of the Psyche Electro-Acoustic Opera company was held on August, 26 2017 at the Chapel of the St. Venerable Bede on the University of Miami Coral Gables Campus. The attendance was composed of over a 100 people who came out to hear this new blend of electronics, opera, dance, video, and lighting design.
In Sunday night synthesis Series 03 Episode 02, Dr. Moore shows excerpts of a performance of two scenes from his opera, Shibeth. Moore performed on modular analog synthesizer components, Seigido performed vocals, and Brigette cormier choreographed and performed an excellent dance performance in her role as Shibeth. These two scenes are also known as Begin End Cycle. the opening scene of the opera and End Cycle Begin, where Shibeth finds that she has died and has an encounter with a rather mysterious spirit.
Episode 02 – Excerpts from Psyche Electro-Acoustic Opera’s Myths & Spirits
On Saturday, August 26th, 2017 Lawrence W. Moore and his wife, Liza Seigido, presented the inaugural performance of the Psyche Electro-Acoustic Opera Company that they founded. Moore presented two pieces from the opera, Shibeth, that he is producing. these pieces were Begin End Cycle and End Cycle Begin, which features Moore on modular synthesizer components, Brigette Cormier as the dancer/choreographer who performs the part of Shibeth, and Liza Seigido as the voice of the unknown spirit that speaks to Shibeth. Shibeth is an opera that ask questions and ponders on just what might happen and be experienced by one who has died. In the opera, Shibeth dies and an encounters strange experiences. One of these experiences is an unknown spirit that tries to lure her into accepting that upon her death, her individuality is finished and all that is left is for her to be recycled back into the whole. Shibeth has a strong spirit and attempts to resist and hold on to herself, which is truly, the only thing she ever had before and after her life experience.
