Dr. Lawrence W. Moore's Collaborations

SnapDrive

Credits

  • Music composed by Lawrence W. Moore
  • video produced by Liza Seigido

Description

This piece was a collaboration between Lawrence W. Moore (music) and Liza Seigido (video). Moore composed the music in an effort to work with the small, almost instantaneous element of a snapping sound, generated by using an empty sync table. Moore generated the instrument in Csound and applied many parameters to it, which allowed him to create an adventure from using such a simple sound. Seigido created the video from a short, 7 second clip of video footage of US1 on the way back from the Florida Keys.

Act I Includes Begin End Cycle and End Cycle Begin, composed by Lawrence W. Moore for modular synthesizer components, fixed audio, fixed video, live voice, and live dancer. The dance choreography was composed by Brigette Cormier.

In the story, Shibeth has just died. Her spirit encounters a disembodied voice in the world beyond. She struggles with what this voice is asking her to do, let go of her self. The spirit becomes enraged as Shibeth resists. Perhaps there is a choice as to whether or not we allow consciousness to be destroyed and recycled upon death?
